POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW in the EEB Department and Herbarium, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
A two-year NSF-funded postdoctoral fellowship is available to begin in September 2015 in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Herbarium at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. We are seeking a motivated individual to assist in all aspects of a project that is focusing on the phylogenetics and biogeography of the nearly 500 Old World species of *Croton* (Euphorbiaceae). The genus is particularly rich in Madagascar but also present throughout Africa, southeast Asia, and Australia. We seek to integrate these data into our prior studies on the nearly 800 New World species of *Croton* and provide a worldwide synopsis and evolutionary
perspective of this giant genus.
* Fellowship Term and Salary.— The initial fellowship period is for one year, renewable for a second year upon mutual agreement. Proposed starting date is September 1, 2015. Beginning salary is $39,000 per annum, including an excellent benefit package and eligibility for a second year salary increase.
* Eligibility and Qualifications.— The candidate must possess a doctoral degree in plant systematics or a closely related field. We are seeking a person with expertise in molecular phylogenetics and bioinformatic analyses who is also interested in conducting field work and studies of herbarium material, with effective dissemination of the results. There will be opportunity for student mentoring, particularly through the project’s partner institution at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez.
